make up update

hey guys
life has been a bit crazy lately so i've fallen a little behind. i decided i would do a post with a few looks ive done this week. i also did bee nailsjordana lipstick swatches and peacock makeup.
so here is an update of what ive been up to with my make up.

ive been practicing some make up for a friends wedding.
wedding make up
i have just done half my face as i was just practicing before i went to her for a trial. she has some pink in her dress so i just stuck to very very soft pink eyes. she doesnt wear any make up so we just wanted it nice and natural. i am really happy with it.
wedding make up
we are planning on making her lips slightly more pink.
what do you guys think??

then after that i just did a very simple look.
nude make up

here is a befor and after. just so simple and kept it very nude but pairing it with a stand out lippy.
nude make up with bold lipmake up

here are the swatches i did earlier this week.
jordana lipstick swatches
you can check out a full review on all 8 jordana lip colours here

then i did this
navy blue make up
check it out here.there's a lot more photos in the individual post and also, the mascara i used was amazing!!!

then this look, which might be my fav,
ombre lips
im obsessed with the ombre pink lips. checkout what i used here.

and that's pretty much it for the week..

oh wait, there was this lovely look i had going on one morning
red lipstick

nothing was working for me, it was to cold and to early so i just went for a bold lippy ( revlon fabulous fig) and covered everything else up until i had had a coffee.

hope you guys have had a good week.

blue eye make up

hello guys!!!
i did this super pretty look the other day and finally found some time to post about it.
i won two awesome products from a competition run by polish addicts nz find us on facebook here.
also purchased two products from one of the members in a de-stash so i did this look using all these new things.
i won essence party all night eye shadow which is this beautiful metallic bronze eye shadow (i used it in my corner of my eyes) and i won the lippy maybelline pink peony color sensation.
the two products u bought were maybelline fit foundation stick shade #120 and la girl pro conceal natural.
from the left to right this is my before, then after my fit foundation and then with some bronzer to add depth back to my face (i used sivanna colours silky eye shadow #13 as my bronzer)
for the eyes i used
-colour tattoo maybelline blue on by
-maybelline color tattoo mauve crush
-rimmel eyebrow pencil hazel for brows
-revlon photo ready kajal carbon Cleopatra
-maybelline eye studio blackest black gel liner
- black from maybelline smokey glam turquoise glamour
-essence party all night eye shadow

highlighter was essence mosaic compact sun kissed beauty
blush maybelline clear smooth shine free fresh rose

the best part of this look was my eyelashes and lips.
for my lips i used (my prize)maybelline pink peony colour sensation and boy oh boy this smells amazing and is soooo creamy!!!!

and my lashes i used loreal telescopic explosion in the shade blackest black.
i found this slightly harder to apply as the mascara clumps around the top of the brush how ever the brush is so teeni tiny its really easy to get into those hard to reach places.
but so amazing right???

i loved this look and it was so simple.
let me know if you would like a actual tutorial??
i am still thinking of you tube videos but im really nervous so i kinda gotta see how i go!!!

bee nail art

hello all you nail lovers
i realized i havn't done a nail post in a wee while.
i have been having such bad luck with my nails, they just keep breaking and my polishes keep smudging soooo annoying. however, i got sent this link from a friend on facebook so i decided i would do a look inspired by them.

i am pretty happy with how they turned out and they were so easy to do.

so this is just a quick post including some photos of my bee nails.

excuse my groggy hands i burnt my fingers using a curling wand (fail!!!!)
i used
-ulta3 lily white as a base
-kleancolor neon yellow
-ulta3 satin black
- sally hansen big matte top coat.

both the photos above are taken with a flash.
the next photo is just taken in natural sunlight.
such a simple mani. let me know if you guys would like a tutorial on these or if you recreate them then tag me with #nailpolishrox

Jordana lipstick swatches and review

Hello beautiful people.
so today's post was requested by Lani from lani loves. go check out her blog she does awesome reviews and her bottle shots of polish are amazing. I'm part of a makeup group in new zealand (if you are in new Zealand definitely check it out) and posted a photo of all the new lippys i got.
it got a few questions and lovely Lani asked for a review, so here i am.. feeling all special doing my first requested blog post**

all these swatches are done on my natural lip and with no lip liner.
over all i am kinda in love with these. Jordana cosmetics is so affordable so you can get all the colours you would like and play around.

so first picture, which is not great at all is my natural lips. i thought i would post this as comparison for the rest of the picture.

i am going to start off with the only one i didn't really like.
Jordana petal pink #041
so i really like this colour it is a very very soft pink and sort off matte looking.
i must start off by saying i have very dry lips so matte lipsticks often don't work for me. i just found that because i really liked this colour i wanted to do a few layers to get it to be quite pastel but it just kept showing any dry sections of my lips. other than that i love the colour so i'm definitely going to give it another go, i might just put some lip balm on before or after.
if you are after a soft pastel cool toned pink definitely give this a go!!

next is one i've had for a little while and it is my go to lippy
jordana nude #47
this is, in my opinion a perfect true nude lippy. it is also a cool toned colour and ,especially for my skin tone, it just coats my lips nicely. it has a very creamy formula without it being to glossy or sticky and it lasts really well. if you are after a nude lippy they i would try this one.

the next one is one of my favorites.
Jordana apricot glaze #190
this is very similar to my Rimmel one i did a look with here. this one being slightly more orange and the Rimmel one is slightly more red. this one is so so so creamy and glossy. it is so easy to apply and lasts almost all day. i found because it was so creamy it felt really comfortable on my lips, almost like wearing a stained lip balm.
in my opinion this is also more of a cool toned orange.
if you have never tried a orange lippy definitely buy this, its so affordable and yet so pretty!!!

i am not to sold on the next one for myself.
Jordana creamy berries #188
this is a perfect name for this lippy it definitely looks like berries and it is very creamy. i'm just not a fan of the colour on my skin tone. i will wear it with certain looks but just not all the time. it it a pinky purple and its a gorgeous colour i just feel like it clashes with my skin tone, i feel like it makes me look pale. however, if you wern't as pale as i am or didn't mind that factor then i would try this one. i think it was probably the creamiest of them all however because of it being quite creamy i find it doesn't last as long but that's nothing reapplying wont solve.

i love this next one
Jordana pretty pink #099
its the perfect blue based cool toned pink. it sometimes can look a little purple but definitely way more pink. this formula is amazing as well, again so so creamy however this lasted almost all day on me. it is similar to apricot glaze in the way it feels so nourishing and not drying for your lips at all.
you can never have enough pink lippys, you should try this to!!!

first red lippy i ever bought!!
Jordana true red #077
i use this almost every time i wear red lipstick. i used it in my gatsby look.
you can pair it with a darker liner to get a deeper red or a bright red  liner for it to pop.
i found this is more of a cooler based tone as well which i prefer for my skin tone. again its very creamy and lasts almost all day.
it was the first red lippy i bought because i was really nervous to wear red lips and didn't want to spend a fortune and then never wear it.

this one is a little bit deceiving
Jordana fiesta #022
in the tube the lipstick is this gorgeous deep purple but when you apply it however, it isn't nearly as dark or even as purple. don't get me wrong i really like the colour it comes out as but it is definitely more pinky purple than dark purple. this one is also more of a cooled toned colour and is very creamy. i feel like this is a stunning lippy for those days you want to amp up your make up but don't want an extremely dark colour.

and lastly is
Jordana hot cocoa#151
this picture doesn't do it justice at all. i am obsessed with this colour. it is such a pretty brown lippy. i went out with it today and even my partner, who hardly ever mentions anything make up related said " that's a nice lip colour" i feel like other than nude its the one i will wear the most. i love brown lipsticks though. it it very creamy to apply but it does come off more matte in person than this photo shows. it lasts almost all day and leaves a slight tint to your lips so it kinda leaves you with a natural pretty ombre. its actually frustrating how little justice this photo does for this lipstick.

so over all i would definitely recommend trying to get your hands on some of these i buy most of my Jordana stuff on beautyjoint they ship worldwide.
let me know what you guys think, you try any Jordana lippys, any you recommend i try?

peacock make up

i had so so so much fun doing this look.
i was inspired by this lovely lady and her obsession with peacocks and her pretty peacock coloured hair.check her out here
i just started off wanting to use a little bit of blue and green and then kinda just got carried away. i wasn't leaving the house but so wish i had. i took so so many photos of this look to.
the colours i used on my eyes remind me of a peacock.
i used a bunch of blues and greens and bronzed my face up quite a bit.
because this look had quite drastic eyes i did them first and then put on my foundation and stuff after.
on the left you will see my before with just my eyes done then on the right is the difference with the whole look finished.
here is a 3 step before and after. foundation, bronzer and highlighting makes such a huge difference right!

Rimmel lasting finish lipstick

hello,
up on the blog today is this look i did using one of my new favorite lipsticks.
it is such a simple look but honestly, i had so many people tell me how pretty my make up looked.
i woke up a little late for work so decided i didn't have much time for a lot of make up. i had bought a few new things a few days before, one of which was this gorgeous lipstick.
i decided a simple make up look but with a bright pop of colour on my lips would be perfect.
i just did my usual foundation look with a little winged liner and some bright orange lips.

the lipstick i used was Rimmel #12 lasting finish by Kate. i am obsessed with it. it is the perfect orange, not to bright and in my opinion, it is slightly cooler than normal warm oranges.
it is so so creamy,i didn't use a liner with this and it lasted almost all day!!
i am definitely keen to try out more of rimmels lipsticks as this one was freaking amazing!!
here is a before and after of  my make up
i loved this look and will definitely try rock it again sometime.

DIY Christmas decorations

hello everyone.
I have been wanting to make these for ages now. I was taught how to make them as a child. We used to make them as Christmas decorations. I've been looking for something to fill the gap from making dragon eggs (check out those here)
These are so so easy to make but also a little time consuming.
I have only made these two so far but i am definitely going to make a few more.

what you need:
- sequins
-beads (i used seed beads)
-pins
-Styrofoam balls
-pliers (optional)
-glue

For the blue one, i used a blueish/silver sequin, a blue seed bead and also a darker blue/black seed bead.

for the pink one, i used pink and purple sequins(placed them in alternating rows), pink seed beads and clear seed beads.

how t make them:
-decide on what colors you will be using.
-i cut all my pins into half the length using pliers (i found because my balls were quite small i was running out of space inside the ball and found it quite hard to push them all the way through)
- then i put the beads and sequins on the pins. placing the beads first and the sequins last as that will be what covers the ball

-then just go ahead and stick them into the ball. Try start at one point and just go around from that point.
-once you get to the last one i found that a few of mine were sliding out a little bit so i just put a bit of glue on those and glued them down.

to turn them into Christmas decorations for the tree just wrap a string around one pin and glue that one down.
i really love these.
i cant decide which are my favorite
pink?
or blue?

let me know what you think? which one is your favorite.
let me know if you try any out tag me in the pic of post it with #nailpolishrox
i cannot wait to make a few more.

Star Kin swatches

what is on my blog today is nothing short of magical.
these are swatches of a handmade New Zealand polish. It is honestly some of the most beautiful polish i'v even seen and about 3 of these are my favorite polishes in my collection.
not only are these amazing and so packed with glitter and stuff, they are also cruelty free, so no animal testing and its vegan.
at the moment they only post in New Zealand, so if you are in New Zealand or have family or friends here you have to check them out, soooo pretty.
on all of these swatches, my index and middle finger its two coats of the polish on my natural nail and my ring and little finger is one coat over a base colour. and no top coat on any of the nails

ok, so here are the pretties.
so this beauty is Paradox. i love the large glitter and the colors all go so well together. i think another 1 or 2 coats and it would have been  perfect without a base colour. i put it over essence prom berry (which is a stunning deep purple) but i do wish i put it over a black just to help make everything pop a bit.
with the larger glitter you do need a top coat to help it all feel smooth but im just really bad at picking things so i always need a top coat over glitter.

so this is honestly one of my favorite polishes of all time, if not my favorite!
its stellar and omg the glitter, it is so so full of glitter i sometimes find i have to remove some which is crazy, you never normally find that with polish.
its stunning on its own (excuse my stained nails, i am a hairdresser and colour is never good for clear nails), but over ulta3 lily white it is beautiful i have never paired it over white but i will definitely be doing that soon. same as above with the top coat, with this amount of glitter i would definitely recommend a top coat.

these are just some stuff i have that are made using this stunning polish. i made a very glittery and shiny cellphone cover and i also got this beautiful necklace from Serra at peacock pie nz she ships all her jewelry world wide and her polishes in New Zealand.
this one is road less traveled. it is also one of my favs because its sort of neutral and not to crazy but still so pretty and interesting and i think the name is so perfect for it.
i love it!!you can see on my ring finger it even has stars and stuff in it. the thing i love about star kin glitter is you never know what you will find every time you dip your brush in and out again, out pops a star or a flower or something else freaking gorgeous.
one more coat of this and it would have been opaque .i paired it over a soft blue, essence if i were a boy and i love the look you get.

next up is fog people again i think one more coat and it would have been perfect without a base colour but i paired it with essence if i were a boy.
i think the light blue base colour makes the glitter just pop even more.
i love this one because the glitters are so soft like they just blend in with the colour perfectly. they are a mixture of different colour glitters (different types of silver and gold)
i think i remember Ami from star kin saying that this is one of the polishes that sort of started the star kin ball rolling (but don't quote me on that, i could be wrong)

Imzadi!! omg omg omg look at this beauty!!!it is freaking amazing!!!!
look at that milky purple colour and its definitely wearable after 2 coats (i would probably do three ,just so i can pack on more glitter for my glitter loving self hehe)
and then i also paired it over essence oh my glitter. it just shows how opaque it is because you can barely see the difference in the fingers i put a base colour on and those i didn't.
the different colour glitters in this are amazing and i am obsessed with the triangle glitters, so neat and interesting!!

and lastly, sprung. i must admit i wasn't to sure i would like this one (i'm not a big fan of green polish but always go back to it to see if i can get it to work) but this is gorgeous. it reminds me of a fairy garden. a very pretty green with lots of different colours of fairy dust and this one also has stars and the occasional flower to.
it is beautiful paired over chi chi i own that as it makes it a little bit of a softer green.

so yes, thats it for these beauties. if you love cruelty free products and lots of glitter then def check these out they have heaps of different colours, i have also heard their cuticle oil is amazing.

let me know what you guys think, would you like to see more swatches, if so what bands would you like to see.
im trying to swatch all my polish but i think it could take a wee while.

have a lovely day guys and be sure to check me out on facebooktwitterinstagram and bloglovin
